In light of demographic changes and a decreasing interest in small gardens, these spaces in Germany are facing serious challenges. Statistics show that in Saxony and Thuringia, 9 percent of small gardens remain vacant, and in Saxony-Anhalt, this number rises to 20 percent. This situation clearly indicates a crisis in this area.
The Need for Re-evaluation in the Use of Gardens
With a declining number of people interested in gardening and utilizing small gardens, there is an increasing need for planning and innovative ideas for the reuse of these spaces. Many gardens have been left to their own devices and remain unused, which not only negatively impacts the environment but can also lead to increased social and economic risks.
