In an unfortunate incident, a truck caught fire on Highway A72 heading northeast. This fire, likely caused by a tire blowout, resulted in damages amounting to €150,000 and led to the closure of this section of the highway.
Impact on Drivers
Highway A72 is completely closed between the Bayerisches Vogtland interchange and Hof Nord, and access from Highway A9 to A72 in both directions is impossible. According to the police, fortunately, no one was injured in this incident, but rescue and cleanup operations will take at least an hour.
Drivers, due to the closure of this route, should detour via the Hof West exit, as the alternative route through Naila/Selbitz is also closed due to construction work. This situation may change rapidly, but currently, there is no traffic on this route due to low congestion.
