Psychological Violence Against Men: A Story That Is Less Told

Men are also affected by psychological violence in their relationships, but this issue is often overlooked. The fact that men may subtly become victims of this type of violence requires more attention.

Psychological violence against men is one of the issues that is widely ignored. While society usually focuses on physical violence, psychological violence can be far more damaging. Men in their relationships may face humiliating, controlling, and threatening behaviors, but many of them do not even realize they are affected by this type of violence.

Why Do Men Ignore Psychological Violence?

This phenomenon occurs for various reasons. The first reason may be the inability to recognize these types of behaviors. Many men feel that due to social pressures and cultural expectations, they cannot be victims of psychological violence. They unconsciously consider these behaviors as normal or fear expressing their experiences.

Additionally, feelings of shame and lack of social support lead many men to avoid talking about these experiences. This can result in further isolation and exacerbate psychological and emotional problems.

To address this issue, it is essential for society to have a better understanding of psychological violence and to create a safe space for men to share their experiences. This requires a change in attitudes and public culture so that men can also receive the necessary support.
