In a controversial move, the city of Ebersberg has decided to spend €400,000 to improve the conditions of refugees in a residential center following a fire that occurred last September. According to local officials, this amount will only be used to achieve minimum living standards.
Serious Challenges Remain
However, the noteworthy point is that larger problems in this center still remain. The western walls, which contain asbestos, have been completely ignored in this plan, despite the health risks. Does this decision mean ignoring human rights and the health of the residents?
Despite the hefty costs, it seems that officials are more focused on maintaining appearances and attracting public attention rather than addressing the core issues and improving the actual living conditions of refugees.
