On Thursday, a massive explosion occurred in a cafe located in downtown Damascus, which, according to officials, resulted in the deaths of 9 people and injuries to 20 others. This explosion took place near the Palace of Justice, one of the important government buildings, and quickly caused panic and chaos among the people.
Investigations and International Reactions
Immediately after the incident, emergency vehicles rushed to the scene with sirens blaring, and security forces prohibited entry to the cafe. The governor of Damascus, Maher al-Dabi, announced at the scene that investigations have begun and promised that those responsible for this crime will face justice. Additionally, the UN Special Envoy for Syria has called for the prosecution of the perpetrators of this attack.
This incident occurs at a time when Damascus has witnessed several deadly attacks since the fall of Bashar al-Assad in 2024. The latest of these attacks, in June 2025, resulted in the deaths of 25 people in an attack on a church.
