Details of the Altercation and Reactions
This MP, who has been active in the Bundestag since 2017, claimed in a post on his Instagram that he was attacked and insulted during this incident. He alleged that a man threw a beer bottle at him and that he was also subjected to racial insults and sexual harassment by others. However, over time, evidence including eyewitness statements emerged indicating that Akbulut had previously insulted other passengers.
According to a reputable media outlet, some witnesses claimed that he threw the bottle at a group of football fans. These allegations prompted the prosecution to initiate its own investigation against Akbulut. Nevertheless, he has protested these accusations and has only complained about the amount of the daily fine.
Currently, this case has not yet reached a definitive stage, and Akbulut is considered innocent until a final verdict is issued. His office's response to these accusations has not yet been released.
