Merz hoped that Turkey's presence in NATO would create a positive and cooperative atmosphere. He sought to build a constructive relationship with Ankara to strengthen defence cooperation.
The United States' role in NATO
Trump, in his sessions, directly criticized and pointed out that in the alliance, each country's role and commitments must be clear. He asked whether the United States is truly ready to support other countries in NATO or not.
