LGBTQ+ Cruise Banned in Turkey: 'Scarlet Lady' Stranded

Turkey denied the LGBTQ+ cruise ship 'Scarlet Lady' permission to dock at its ports, leaving thousands of passengers facing a change in itinerary. This action was announced due to 'moral standards' and 'family values.'

The ship 'Scarlet Lady', which was scheduled to dock in the Turkish port of Kusadasi on July 7 and then stay in Istanbul for two days, faced a ban on entry from Turkish authorities. This sudden decision affected nearly 2000 passengers, forcing a change in their travel plans.

Reasons for the Ban and Reactions

The CEO of 'Atlantis Events', Rich Campbell, stated that the reason for this action by Turkey was 'moral standards' and 'family values.' He added, 'This is truly shocking. The only reason for this is the presence of an LGBTQ+ group.'

Following this ban, a new route was set for the ship, which will now go to other destinations including Alexandria and Heraklion instead of the previous cities. Campbell further noted that this change could benefit the local economies of the new cities: 'Cairo and Crete will welcome our tourism dollars.'
