As of July 1, German drivers will encounter significant changes in how traffic violations are recorded. The new cameras, known as "Scan-Cars," are capable of capturing up to 1000 license plates per hour, thus making instant fines a reality.
The End of Traditional Cameras
This new technology signifies the end of traditional cameras and foot patrols for recording violations. With the use of these cameras, traffic violations will be quickly identified and communicated to drivers, which could mean a significant increase in fines.
This change in the system will particularly create more problems for reckless drivers and those who do not adhere to the rules. While this technology can help improve road safety, there are also concerns about privacy and surveillance of citizens.
