On an unforgettable night, 44,500 fans joined the farewell celebration of Toten Hosen in Düsseldorf. This legendary band held the first of two concerts in their hometown and excitedly declared that "there's nowhere else in the world they want to be."
Excitement in the Air of Düsseldorf
According to local sources, nearly 90,000 people are expected to attend the concerts over the two nights. The mayor of Düsseldorf proudly announced that "Toten Hosen have taken over the city this weekend." This event is not only a celebration of music but also a manifestation of the memories and 44-year history of this famous band. From their first concert under a bridge in 1982 to today's performances, this band has always held a special place in the hearts of their fans.
With the announcement of their farewell, a nostalgic feeling filled the night. This concert was held under the title "Drink and Go" and is set to conclude next year at the same venue. In the meantime, different generations of fans celebrated the band's music, getting excited with famous songs like "Pushed again" and "Hier kommt Alex."
Additionally, Toten Hosen also reminded everyone of a dark day in their history; the day in 1994 when a 16-year-old girl named Rike lost her life in an incident at this very location. "Today her sister is here," said Campino, the band's singer, with an emotional voice.
Following this, the band performed their best songs for two and a half hours. In the final moments, "Samuel Amara," the singer of the band Broilers, came on stage and sang the duet "Meine Familie" with Campino. With this, Toten Hosen will return to this stage in 2027 to conclude a historic era.
