When you encounter a crisis, every second can be crucial. In such moments, your smartphone can act as a lifesaver, provided it is set up correctly. Let’s take a look at how to activate these vital features.

Emergency Settings on iPhone

New iPhones, especially the iPhone 14 models and above, are automatically capable of detecting accidents. If you are in a crash, this phone will prompt you to call emergency services, and if you do not respond, it will automatically call for help. You can also make emergency calls using specific button combinations or by asking Siri for assistance. Interestingly, this feature works even without a signal.

To activate this feature, go to Settings and select the “Emergency SOS” option. Here, you can set the button combinations used to activate emergency mode and specify which of your contacts should be notified in such situations. In the “Health” app, you can also enter important information such as allergies, vital medications, or pregnancy to be accessible in emergencies.

How to Activate Emergency Mode on Android

The process is similar on Android phones. First, go to Settings and depending on the brand of your phone, select an option like “Safety and Security” or “Emergency and Security.” In this section, you can choose your emergency contacts and set options for actions in emergencies. For example, you can decide whether to make an emergency call or send a text message to your contacts.

To activate emergency mode, simply press the power button five times. This will automatically initiate an emergency call or send your location to your emergency contacts.

These settings are not only useful for emergencies but can also be helpful in situations where you have lost your phone. By setting up emergency contacts, you can access contact information even without unlocking your phone.
