Festivals are always known as exciting places for fun and entertainment, but when the weather suddenly changes or the sleeping conditions in your tent are not suitable, sleeping in your car may become an attractive option. But is this legal?
Sleeping in Cars Regulations
Many large festivals like Deichbrand and Rock am Ring have designated camping areas that allow vehicle entry. To use these spaces, special tickets called WOMO-Plaketten or Caravan-Tickets must be purchased. These tickets allow you to benefit from amenities such as electricity in these areas.
However, keep in mind that you cannot simply drive your car to any campsite you want. This is only permitted in authorized locations with the appropriate tickets. Otherwise, you may face security barriers and issues from festival officials.
In general, if you plan to spend the night in your car, be sure to familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations of each festival to avoid any potential hassles.
