Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany, referred to the upcoming elections in the eastern states of the country in his recent program. He firmly stated that despite positive polls for the AfD party, they do not intend to concede ground to their rivals.

Determination for Moderates

In this program, Merz reminded viewers that the final decision regarding the elections in the states of Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has not yet been made. According to him, these elections are significant not only for the states but for the future of the entire Federal Republic of Germany.

He also emphasized that his party is seeking to maintain the position of moderates in German politics and has entered the field with strong resolve. Merz, referring to the current situation, said: "We must not underestimate, we have strong determination and are confident that we can win the people's opinion."

The elections in Saxony-Anhalt will be held on September 6 and in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on September 20. According to forecasts, AfD is in a position of advantage in both states.
