The 2026 Tour de France will launch with a unique start and a tough challenge in Barcelona. This grand cycling competition, taking place from July 4 to July 26, will begin for the first time in 55 years with a time trial covering a 19.6-kilometer route in this Catalan city.

Tough Challenges on the Route

This tour includes 3333 kilometers and approximately 54,450 meters of elevation, with two tough days in the Alps being one of its main focuses. Cyclists will need to reach the summit of the Alps on July 24 and 25, which experts say will be one of the most difficult challenges of this edition.

Along this route, in addition to eight mountain stages and four hilly stages, two rest days are also scheduled. Alongside the sporting attractions, this competition will be broadcast live on various television and streaming networks, allowing fans to watch this grand event with excitement.

Interestingly, on the first day, teams will pass by famous landmarks in Barcelona, including the Sagrada Família, and the end of this stage will feature a climb to Montjuïc. This competition seems not only to be a test of the cyclists' physical abilities but also an opportunity to showcase the cultural and natural beauty of France and Spain.
