Following a suspicious arson attack in Cottbus, serious concerns have arisen regarding the negative impacts of extreme right-wing ideology on the economy of this area. This attack, likely carried out by right-wing extremists, has left the economic community of the city deeply worried about losing investor confidence.

Concerns About the Economic Future

The president of the Cottbus Chamber of Commerce, expressing regret over these events, stated that such actions negatively affect the image of an open, safe region with a bright future. He emphasized that these attacks not only cast a shadow over Cottbus but also create anxiety among companies and investors.

This region is currently in the midst of a significant economic transformation due to the exit from the coal industry, and large projects such as establishing a new medical center and developing transportation infrastructure require skilled labor. Therefore, any social instability could jeopardize this process.

The Government and Community Must Act

The Chamber of Commerce president also stressed that the community, politicians, and the private sector must stand against this type of violence and fear to prevent any perception of acceptance of violence and extreme right-wing ideology in the region. He also called on government officials to pursue investigations into these attacks.

On the night of the incident, several Molotov cocktails were thrown at the residential project "Zelle 79," and the police are investigating this matter as well as a suspicious fire near the "Café Checkpoint" and the vandalism of a window at the Cottbus Greens' office. The connection between these incidents is under investigation.
